Is Nature smarter than us? A quick lesson in Free Will and Intuition.

What is the difference between Homo Sapien and the rest of the animal kingdom? What is the one thing that makes us believe that we are separate from nature, that envelopes us with the superiority complex that Man is superior to Nature? That one simple device is “Free Will”. We have the freedom to choose whatever we wish to do on a daily basis. Where to put our focus on? What hobbies to engage in, what to eat, what to spend our time on, who to spend our time with, what thoughts to pay attention to most etc. An animal on the other hand has a set programming for the most part that it seems to be born with, with some lessons learned from parenting as well but for the most part, animals operate from the constitution of their own programming. Where we have “Free Will” the animal kingdom has “Instinct”. Now which is better? Is one better than the other?
When a dominant male Lion starts its day it knows exactly what is has to do. Look after the pride, make sure everyone is fed, check the premises for any intruding individuals from opposing prides, look out for any would be competing predators like Hyenas or leopards, and if it’s the mating season maybe make more babies! A spider wakes up and knows it has to inspect its webs for any damages, repair any kinks in its armor or else that could play a huge factor on whether or not it can sufficiently catch prey and survive. An owl knows when the sun comes up, it’s time to sleep, and when the sun goes down it’s time to feed. So where this may seem inferior to us humans, there is actually a perfect harmony and order to the life of an animal. It doesn’t have to over think anything. It simply does what it has to do based on the programming of Nature or God. Call it Divine planning or Divine harmony if you will. This is where we human’s struggle, we have this great tool of “Free Will” but it tends to be our undoing at times. We seem to make the “wrong” decisions easily, or if we believe that there is no “Right or Wrong” then we make the more “malignant” decisions leading us on the more difficult path as opposed to the more easier and comfortable “nicely paved path”, a perfect depiction of the law of “Cause and Effect”. This is quite the conundrum as if we believe we came here for a higher cause or grand purpose, then why did we come here with the sense of “forgetting”, only to try and find that path once again. This is where the Game gets fun now though!
Here’s another scenario of this. After a long winter, the spring equinox comes and melts all the ice and snow of the long arduous winter season. A few homes by the river get flooded putting the families living in them in a precarious and stressful situation. Who are we to blame? Is this an act of God? Do we wonder what have we done to warrant such a tragic situation? Do we place blame on an archetype such as the Devil, or Lucifer, Seth the God of chaos, or law of Karma or Ying and Yang? This is where our free will gets us into trouble. Maybe it was our free will that got us into this mess to begin with, we have the choice to move by a river, but choosing to ignore the long-term consequences of this decision is where we get run into our misfortunes. Nature works in perfect harmony and presents us with laws to follow, if we recognize these laws as “Build your house in a floodplain and you will at some point experience flooding”, then we can make better more informed decisions, making life easier for us. An animal like a beaver on the other hand understands these laws and knows how to work with them so beautifully that they’ve built an Empire of sorts throughout the World now, populating places all over the globe well beyond their native ranges. And as for us humans, well I guess that’s why we invented something so lovely as “Insurance” to deal with our issues when “Free Will” steers us on the more difficult path once again.
So what else can be said about this? Think about this for a second and let I sink in. Our species is the only species that willingly and unwillingly puts ourselves in stressful situations and continues to remain in them without doing anything about it. Now think about nature. If food becomes scarce in a given area, the representatives from the animal kingdom will not stick around for very long. When the dry season hits, animals will follow the rains in hopes of greener pastures. A spider chooses to build its web in the most optimal conditions or environment where it is most likely to capture its prey. Us though, we get a job that we don’t like, and our minds, DNA, heart, that pit in our stomach etc. All tell us that this is not the most ideal environment for us, but we choose to stick out and see what happens, even trying to convince ourselves that we MUST stay here. People of nature would never wait around for rain to fall or food to just start showing up out of nowhere. An aboriginal person would do as the lion does and follow the herds, or lead its pride to where the watering holes have not run dry yet.
So as the aboriginal person understands “Work with nature and she’ll work harmoniously back with you”, but that’s completely our choice! An animal or person of nature understands it must work with the laws of nature if they are to “thrive” and have an easier time here in this game of “Life”. So even though Free Will is a great tool and beautiful gift from God, maybe we just need to learn how to use it better. Another amazing tool we’ve been blessed with is “Intuition”, but sadly first World society and the sciences would have us believe to “not” believe in such charlatan views, but we know we have this gift, as we’ve encountered it many times during our lifetime, the problem is we choose to deny it, which again is where “Free Will” steers us wrong! A rabbit doesn’t have to go up to the coyote and ask if it’s friend or foe, it just instinctually knows. Just the same as we don’t have to seek a guru to know if that person is right for us, or if this new job serves in our highest order, your intuition tells you all this, and we have the free will to listen to it or not. We possess such POWERS that we can’t even begin to understand, if we just integrated our Free Will with our Intuition, just think how much more powerful we could become!
Too bad we didn’t come with an instruction manual but that’s part of the FUN in being here! Learning and understanding our own programming and how to tap into all our GIFTS and use them to our advantage! Further evidence as how we really are “Co-creators” of God.
