So it's time to grow up and start adulting. Says who?!

When we are born into this world in our young helpless almost embryonic state, our minds are at our most simplest levels. We want food, we want shelter, we want comfort and affection and our parents lovingly provide us with all those. Then as we grow up our minds expand and there's a big world around us which we know little about! As we grow into toddlers we want to explore! Little else matters as we touch, feel, smell, use all of our senses to discover all the secrets that this world has to share and offer.

We are like little sponges ready to absorb all the knowledge we can gain. The experiences we gain, the people we meet, the friends we make, we begin to explore our imagination and see what our limitations are. And each one of us is particularly drawn to something in this life. To some of us it's nature, to others it's art, to others it's physical activity, engaging in fun and games with her fellow peers. Whatever hobbies or interests particularly draws us, we are enjoying life! We Are Young vibrant Souls ready to go out and have fun, explore this world, and a lot of us at that young age still experience a level of empathy and camaraderie for each other. We tell and share stories with each other, embrace the fantasy out of this world! Then what the heck happens!?

At some point in our life though, depending on our upbringing and our level of schooling, we are told that it's time to forget about all this and grow up! It's time to start adulting. Life is not about fun and games anymore, life is not about exploring, it's not about all the different experiences you can garner within one lifetime! Nope! Now it's time to pick a job and get serious! Buy a nice big fancy house, keep up with the Jones's, make sure your car is better than your neighbors! Make sure all those bills are paid on time and make sure your credit rating is good! And if you look in the mirror where has this gotten you?

Are you happy now when you look in the mirror? Are you happy when you wake up in the morning? Are you happy when you're driving to work in the morning? Are you happy when you're driving home from work in the evening? Once all these questions start coming to you then at some point you start thinking to yourself "Is this what I signed up for!?". This is your grand Awakening, your midlife crisis, and if you want to look at the spiritual aspect, this is your Higher Self communicating to you, giving you a wake-up call. Is it any Wonder why we age so fast nowadays here in this first world society. We are always rushing to get somewhere yet we have little idea to where that destination is or why we're even engaging in this race to begin with?

So what are we living for? Working to pay all the bills, buying all these material possessions on some fleeting desperate effort to find or buy happiness. What awaits us at this finish line? Who wins this game? The person who has bought the most stuff in the end? Owns the most expensive stuff? Has the least amount of debt or less bills in the end? The person who retired the fastest so that he or she can finally get that reprieve from this torrid existence or reality we manifested for ourselves? Or is it simply who can die the fastest and get the heck out of this existence altogether...?

Adulting doesn't sound so fun after all does it, but who told us it had to be like this to begin with. Did you choose your job based on your ideals and desires or was it someone else's goal or path projected, dictated or chosen for you? Did you even want to buy such a big house with so much upkeep, or was that someone else's idea as well. And when you were told it was time to forget about your childhood and all that made it so vibrant, and enjoyable, and now time to grow up, did you want to accept that reality too or did you reluctantly abide to someone else's wishes.  Who's life are you living right now even?!

Maybe now it's time to actually start growing into your own power once again. Questioning the reality that was taught or dictated to you and start thinking for yourself. Breaking out of this Matrix of hard times and Adulting! And what are the steps to this? We can get into detail about this in future articles, but the best advice I can give and that I have been following is go back to your roots!

Start doing the things that made you happy as a child! It could be riding a bike, engaging in a sport, being active, painting, drawing a picture, reading a book, canoeing, hiking, camping etc. You after all know what interest you best. No need to seek a spiritual guru or life coach for that one now. With me it's been going out into nature once again and exploring. See all the different bugs, all the different rocks, flipping a stone and seeing what lives under it, and also engaging in Art once again, taking advantage of this talent that God has blessed me with! It's a great big world out there Beyond our four walls, whether those walls are the office, or your home. But if you've hit this proverbial wall, this midlife crisis, it's crucial to get beyond these four walls, get out of your own head, and answer the call to your Higher Self! Get out there and explore once again.

But what about those bills, what about those possessions you bought that need maintenance. How many bills did you have as a kid? How many things did you actually own other than the toys that were bought for you? Wasn't life so much happier when you didn't have all these possessions, all these responsibilities, all these bills. this will bring us to the next article. The Liberation and freedom that comes with becoming a minimalist! But for now do yourself the favor of closing the television, getting off your phone, and going out and exploring nature, doing some yoga or meditate, or going out with some friends! You owe it to You and your Higher Self.
